NIT- Reporting at allotted institute

Question

Does anyone know how much time registration at allotted institute takes and do we have to report along with our luggage i.e will we be provided with accommodation in hostel on the same day or after registration we have to report at a later date before beginning of classes?

No luggage needs to be carried during reporting. You will be joining at the later stage. Hostels will be allotted during registration though. Check class begining date for your nit. You can join the hostel a week early if you wish.

The registration can be completed before lunch if you report early in the morning and all the documents are in order.

Just one more question will I have to submit all the original documents as well or are they just for verification purposes?

If I have to submit the original documents then that would effectively mean I won't be able to attend spot round at any IIT, or IIT Hyderabad interview if called, right?

Only original leaving and migration certificate have to be submitted, rest xerox copies only.

For IIT, you can give undertaking for above docs during admission. Once you join you can submit the original.
