What is it's indirect speech ?

My answer -

I requested my colleague not to go home yet and to remember that he had promised to finish his work before leaving.

Given answer -

I requested my colleague not to go home yet and to remember that he promised to finish his work before leaving.

 

If the reporter speech is in simple past (promised) it should be in past perfect in indirect form.
