#Foruzan Chapter: Network Layer
An IPv4 packet has arrived with the first few hexadecimal digits as shown. Ox45000028000100000102 ... How many hops can this packet travel before being dropped? The data belong to what upper-layer protocol? Solution To find the time-to-live field, we skip ... the next byte (02), which means that the upper-layer protocol is IGMP Why to skip 8 bytes????Please Explain

Kurose and Ross Chapter 4th Network Layer Problem 16
Q: Suppose an application generates chunks of 40 bytes of data every 20 msec, and each chunk gets encapsulated in a TCP segment and then an IP datagram. What percentage of each datagram will be overhead, and what percentage will be application data? Please someone who knows explain also. Thanks in adv. - Madhav.

Computer Networks by Andrew S. Tanenbaum, 4th edition chapter:5 (The Network Layer), Question:5
Consider the following design problem concerning implementation of virtual- circut service. If virtual circuits are used internal to the subnet, each data packet must have a 3-byte header and each ... packets are transmitted. The mean packet requires four hops. Which implementation is cheaper and why?

S2 : There is a fixed limit on the maximum size of data that it can pass on the TCP layer. Which of the following options is ... A Only S1 is true B Only S2 is true C Both S1 and S2 are true D Neither of S1 or S2 is true
