Hello Guys ...We can Discuss all Gate 2021 Shift 2 related Questions and doubts here. Please post your answers and any doubts here.

My thoughts on paper 2: Paper 2 was bit lengthy , as some questions were really time consuming. Also MSQ were bit tricky, I have seen paper 1 also, and it seems that paper 2 was bit tougher than paper 1, hope normalization would do some Justice.

What's the pipeline answer? Its given that "register read is performed in EX stage". So in case of without operand forwarding it should pass data from WB to EX stage of next instructionright?

Yes if we consider WB to ID stage then it will be 1.875. But since in question its given "register read from EX stage". I think due to this line does the answer changes?

@zxy123 I dont think  $\frac{a}{a+b}$

Because in question there it was written that every time we pick up a ball we replace it as well as also add a ball of same colour. So after 3 trials the sample space would increase to  ($a+b+3$). Now I am confused with the numerator. It could be $a+3$ or $a$ or the last option $(\frac{a}{a+b})(\frac{a+1}{a+b+1})(\frac{a+2}{a+b+2})(\frac{a+3}{a+b+3})$.

Which phase of the compiler will generate an error? Semantic phase, right (undeclared data type)?

Also if you think theoretically, the probability shouldn't change, as we have to average over all the possibilities which include adding blue balls as well.

Could be wrong here, let's wait until tomorrow, the response sheet and answer key will be released tomorrow right?

@himanshu19 @zxy123 If it is a user defined struct, it needs to have this declaration

struct Integer x;

In which case it is a syntax error as it needs the struct before it. But as it is not even defined, and the compiler tries to reduce it to a known data type and fails, that should happen when we make sense of code (SEMANTIC ANALYSIS PHASE). Kindly correct me where I'm wrong. 

I have marked semantic and am now worried about -0.33

I can't even say surely because GCC gives output as unknown data type integer, so it can be one or the other.

Pipeline Question:

Non-pipeline = 4(add ops) * 5 + 4(mul ops) * 6 = 44

pipeline(with operand forwarding) = 15

speedup = 44/15 = 2.933

By drawing the pipeline diagrams it would be 30/16 cycles i.e, 1.875.

@zxy123  I dont think the questions are ordered mark wise in the response sheet, because atleast from what I remember some 2 mark questions are coming before question number 26.

@zxy123, btw , if you really score the marks you are telling, tit's almost confirmed ,you end up in top 100,given that normalization is Fair, because most of us have messed Shift-2.

Btw , I feel like the Marks v/s rank distribution might be similar to gate 2013 paper as the difficulty level was almost same. At that time , topper scored just 69, do you think , someone might go around 75.🙄

Lol no way 90+ in this set, in Set1 surely possible. I bet very very few people can go 75+.

Also because of MSQs , for any topper , paper was time consuming.

Yes i guess the lesser the toppers of our Set scores , more benifit we get in Normalization ,atleast that's what feels according to the formula, am i correct?

@simar11498,can expect around rank in range 500 to 1000 , if normalization works in our favour.Else it might go even further.

I don't think we should expect much from normalisation if anything at all, set 1 is not that easy, they had pretty good questions too

Hard to predict anything right now. Right now it seems many people did well in paper 2 also,much more than my expectations.Sad that The weightage of marks aren't clearly provided, so Rank predictors are also useless as of now.

Paper 2 was actually not that hard, for those who focused more on theory and also, didn't make any silly mistakes. Which I made a lot, and now estimating a tentative score of 44

The last 3 digits of the question id is in the order of weightage of marks (for both aptitude and core part).

For example, in my case in aptitude section, question 091 to 095 are 1 mark and 096 to 100 are 2 marks. In main section, question 001 to 025 are 1 marks and the remaining ones are 2 marks.

I'm getting total marks of either 47.03 or 48.03, if I'm going by the marking scheme of AppliedGate. The confusion is since for 1 of the Digital Logic Design questions (question number 31 of AppliedGate pdf solution - the MUX question), the marks hasn't been mentioned and my solution to that question is correct.

EDIT 1 : Getting 48.03 marks and I'm from General Category.

I am sure i won't cross 55 Marks in Shift 2 CSE 2021.

 Should i start preparing for Interviews and/or other exams like for BITS and others,by trusting the rank of Rank predictors which will release about in some days. Also one confusion i have about preparing for interviews is that

I feel i won't even get a call from most IITs (as of general category), so starting to prepare so early seems a waste of time. Also can't predict exact normalization until the results. i am confused , what to do?

Can anyone please just give a tentative idea to which year this years marks and iits cutoff will resemble as in 2018 2017 both yr cutoff was expected to be 25 this year also acc to g.o prediction its 25

@simar11498 This year the cutoffs would be like 2018 or 2013. Though the toughness of paper was comparable to 2013 and could be said even more tougher due to MSQs and shuffling. So at least it sould be like 2018. It may also be like 2013.

For a rank lying in the range of 250-350 ...What offers can one expect???(for general category) To be quite honest I gave gate with almost zero expectations and now I am getting around 65 marks in session 2. And I am bit confused on what I will get from these marks and what more should I be doing for successfully bagging a seat in a good IIT in a good program. Please help.

How accurate is GO rank predictor 2021?? It seems like the ranks are stabilized by now... Can I start the further steps based on the prediction... I tried preparing for interviews... but the anxiety is so high that I am hardly able to concentrate even for half an hour. So then dropped that Idea and I will start preparing for interviews after the results are announced.(hopefully result favour m aajaye bas :) )
