IIsc has released dates for written test.

I know nearly all the current/previous toppers are on GO, can you guys please share what to read for the test? I’ve read past year interviews but most of them had choice of subject to get asked on, a liberty we might not have in the written test.

It's so frustrating to say the least, most of my time these days are spent googling myself to slow death.

We need better admission procedures than this!

All I find from googling stuff are ad-infested websites, with nothing useful to offer 🙁

Most of them would be listed here: https://gateoverflow.in/blog/12782/all-interview-experiences-college-wise-and-year-wise-links

Google is killing the blogs by allowing or forcing them to put ads like anything. There was a time when only 3 ads were allowed and websites used to be easy to go. Nowadays most websites are just full of ads because google allows them and they pay that much only for ads.

True that... Also, Made Easy made the worst rank predictors for CSE yet, they come-up first when searched for rank prediction, it's just mind-boggling how the page rank skews results even though most people prefer GO for all intents and purposes for GATE.

I wish GO had a donation link, unlike most, it provides real-quality substance than chatter stuff.

Edit: Did just that, could've been obvious...

Any idea when Mtech(Research) Written test / interviews could be held?

MTech Research for CSA - May 17-21 and for CDS - May 14 and 15.

You can see the details here - https://www.iisc.ac.in/important-dates/

Will anyone please help me out regarding this:-

On COAP 2021 website there is an FAQ

Q. I have three valid GATE scorecards of GATE 2021/2020/2019 for the same paper. Which score card shall I use?

A. It is advisable to register with information related to the highest GATE Score.
During registration, you will also provide valid GATE score details of remaining years between 2019 and 2021. You will register only once but registration details will include all other GATE scores of last three years. Failing to do so will result in disqualification.

Will someone get disqualified if they have given GATE earlier and they dont mention it in COAP'21 registration? What if they don't have the earlier details anymore?

I don't think so, but better mail/call them regarding this.

Like
Yes I also dont think so but just to be safe, I mailed them. They replied only with " Please read FAQ on COAP 21 website".

Wth!! I already read it from there. I mailed them again but they didn't respond. Btw, I have gone through whole FAQ but there wasn't any answer for my question.

It's better to not take any chances, find any means to get previously scores if possible.

@Mohan K Visit the respective college's sites for details regarding previous-year's cutoffs, that said score may vary slightly each time due to difficulties of the paper so, compare score with ranks and the ranks with your own to get a best estimate.

Apart from that use the college predictor given in GO for a good measure. Don't search the main-stream outlets ask they provide inaccurate information whose main intent is to provide click-bait articles.

@ayush.5  I am also facing same issue with Coap, they replied with faqs link. If you get any info regarding, please share here it will be helpful

Unless you have given Aadhaar number no one will be able to identify your previous GATE scores right? So, if it is really bad I don't think it needs to be mentioned. But if it is close to this years score might be good to mention as some colleges might have weird criteria in case of scores being a tie.

@Sourav.Sharma I think it was mentioned in their detailed advertisement that with 7.5 cg you can get direct admission.
Like
@ayush.5 I don't think so that not mentioning the previous year gate scores will result in your disqualification. However, to be on the safer side everyone should also mention their previous attempts' (if any) gate scores. It is also written in the brochure or FAQ that they will consider only the maximum of all the gate scores mentioned by a candidate.

While applying to the respective IISc or IITs you will only be required to give a single (of course, your best) gate score.
Like
And also, one need to have only his registration number of previous year GATE. As soon as you will fill the registration number, COAP will automatically fetch other details (like, GS of that year).

@Pascua After giving all the required details just pay the fees and then submit your application.

Remember, even if you pay the fees but do no submit the application, your application will not be considered by them.

Only registering on COAP is open right? Or we have to individually register on every iit website. Also are the applications open on individual websites?

@Panduuu

Register on COAP first and then on IIT websites. IIT websites will ask for your COAP registration number. You will get offers on COAP. After you accept an offer, you should go to that IIT's website.

PS: This is applicable only for admissions via GATE score

From what I understand, we will get a call for the written test if our application is selected. Is this correct, or do we apply somewhere for the written test?

Hi All,

I have a doubt in COAP:

If we reject a particular offer(lets say, ABC branch in XYZ college) in COAP Normal rounds, will the same offer be available to us in Additional Rounds, if there is still any vaccant seats present in that offer(ABC branch in XYZ college)  ?

@ Sir, & others can u pls clarify my doubt

No. If you reject an offer, it will never be available to you again. If you like an offer but want to wait for a better offer, you can select 'Retain and Wait'. However, you can do this only 2 times. For 3rd time, you will have only 2 options: Accept and reject for that offer

Hi everyone..

I have applied for AI, CSA and CDS M.Tech at IISc but have not got written test invitation for any of these programs.

My gate score is 615. Is it a too low score to get shortlisted for test? Or are they considering some other parameter as well?

Did anyone else with similar score get the test invitation?

Actually, on the IISc M.Tech admissions page, for AI and CS, they state:

That's it.

I thought GATE score would be used only for final selection.

Had they mentioned it clearly that shortlisting for written test would be based on GATE score, I wouldn't have applied. This is really disappointing on their part to provide vague information.

Hey, has anyone received interview dates for CSA or AI? Its given as NA in the call letter, but I was under the impression that they'll be sending out the interview dates after you clear a certain cutoff on the tests. Is it not so? Have they removed interviews altogether for these two?
Like

@Liyana
As mentioned in here:
https://iisc.ac.in/admissions/m-tech-m-des/#ffs-tabbed-217

For AI and CSA for M.Tech, selection will be based on 70% Gate Score + 30% Written Test
So, I guess there won't be any interviews for that.

@savvysiddharth - thanks for this! I conflated previous year's experiences and the CDS selection process and arrived at this conclusion unfortunately. This is good to know :)
