There are three boxes. One contains apples, another contains oranges and the last one contains both apples and oranges. All three are known to be incorrectly labeled. If you are permitted to open just one box and then pull out and inspect only one fruit, which box would you open to determine the contents of all three boxes?

  2. The box labeled ‘Apples and Oranges’
  3. The box labeled ‘Oranges’

Since, it is given there are 3 boxes. Let’s suppose we picked the one with label “Apples and Oranges”, obviously it won’t contain both as all the boxes are labeled incorrectly. Let’s suppose it have apples so we have identified the box with apples. The remaining boxes with labels as “Apples” and”Oranges” will have “oranges” and “apples and oranges” respectively in them.
