Go back n
Consider a network connecting two systems, ‘A’ and ‘B’ located 6000 km apart. The propagation speed of media is 2 × 106 mps. It is needed to design a Go-Back-7 sliding window protocol for this network. The average packet size is 107 bits. If network used as its full capacity, then the bandwidth of network is__________ Mbps

Confusion in #RTTs : Slow start-first full window
Suppose, size of a full window is 24 Kb. There is no congestion. 1 MSS = 2 Kb. RTT = 10 ms How long does it take to send the first full window? Approach 1) 2 | 4 | 8 | 16 | 24 = 4 RTTs =4 * 10 ms = 40ms Approach 2) 2 | 4 | 8 | 16 | 24 | = 5 RTTs = 5 * 10 ms = 50ms Which approach is correct?

Selective Repeat
Consider a network connecting two systems located 4000 kilometers apart. The bandwidth of the network is 64 Mbps. The propagation speed of the media is 2/3 of the speed of light in vacuum. It is needed to design selective repeat sliding window protocol ... processing delays at nodes are negligible. Then, the minimum size in bits of the sequence number field has to be _________.

GATE-CS-2006
Station A uses 32 byte packets to transmit messages to Station B using a sliding window protocol. The round trip delay between A and B is 80 milliseconds and the bottleneck bandwidth on the path between A and B is 128 kbps. What is the optimal window size that A should ... of packets Then optimal Window size is 40 If the RTT=2*Tp then we get Ws = 41, what is the correct approach ?

Utilization
In a Stop and WaIT ARQ protcol given Bandwidth = 1Mbps and 1bit RTT = 20ms ,Frame size is 1000bits whats the % Utilization of the link? Soln. My approach is :- Bandwidth delay pdt = 1x10^6 x 20 x10^-3 = 20000bits And system sends 1000bits at a time so 1000/20000 = 5% Is this approach Correct? Other way :- U = Tr/(Tr + RTT) but by this answer doesnt matches Plz Correct me

Utilization
Can we Say that the link Utilization is also Equal to FrameSize/Bandwidth Delay Pdt ? Because BDP Determines max data which can be present at a time in the network and we are at a time transmitting data equal to only frame size So Utilization can be written like above? And suppose we are given window size too then U = (Window * Frame Size)/Bandwidth Delay Pdt
