The Ethernet frame is the packet that delivers data between stations. Each frame is made up of bits which are organized into different fields. The four main fields are the destination Ethernet address field, source Ethernet address field, data field and frame check sequence field. The address fields are 48 bit long. The data field has a variable size from 46 to 1500 bytes. The frame check sequence field is a 32 bit Cyclical Redundancy Check (CRC) which checks the integrity of the bits in the frame to ensure that the frame has arrived intact.
