Round Trip Time is the time required for a signal to be sent and the time required for the acknowledgment of delivery of that signal.

Practically it depends on a lot of factors like, processing delay at sender/receiver, transmission time at sender, propagation delay of medium while transmitting data from sender to receiver or vice versa, queuing delays etc.

So, there can be many formulas for RTT depending upon what factors you are considering and which you are ignoring.

If acknowledgement transmission time is negligible then use RTT=2*Tp

If acknowledgement transmission time is Tt then use RTT=2*Tp+Tt
