is it necessary that we have to take permission from the clg for gate and not sitting for the placements ?

In my case, I had to give the letter to my training and placement cell for why I don't want to sit in placements but didn't ask for permission to sit in Gate exam

If you are in b.tech final year then you just have to upload a certificate which is attached ,signed from h.o.d. in the gate official website along with other documents. Gate has nothing to do with college placements.

Rest depends upon your college  regarding placement rules.

In some colleges they allow 1 month holiday in 8th sem for gate preparation. You just have to submit your gate roll no. and details.
