What is this an=an^p+an^h???please explain?Is this is used for solving these type of questions?

when eqn is not homogeneous than solution of recurrence is homogeneous soln + particular soln...a(h) denotes homogeneous soln and a(p) denotes particular soln..

havent you studied recurrence..? you should refer some textbook to see how it goes than it will be more clear...if r.h.s would have been of form quardtic i.e n^2+n+1...than way of solving particular soln is different so few points only there in solving particular if eqn not homogeneous..!
