2 months?

2 girls have told me 1 month is enough- one did M.Tech. from IITB and one from IITM and neither not even from any NIT.

If you see the above page, you can know where the toppers come from. Most of them are final years where as many repeaters get 3 or 4 digit ranks. Why? That's the effect of GATE coaching.

Now, being in final year, is advantageous for GATE if you have a little but correct knowledge of topics. GATE does not usually check the memory skill. So, someone good in maths and coding is guaranteed to do well in GATE.

So, now if you want a top rank in GATE, you should use the following links:

  2. http://books.gatecse.in

Of course you can't study everything from book, but you can always refer in need. Solve, previous year GATE papers as much as possible, but quality matters than quantity- so solve less but with full concentration and effort and with correct solutions. Remember that official keys of GATE are available only from 2012 on wards. For earlier you can refer here when in doubt. Covering all topics is always good but if you don't have time going deep is better than going broad. Well, for those who have done B.Tech. labs on their own, 2 months is plenty to prepare for GATE. GATE is an exam where 90% takers fail to even qualify and only about 0.5% manage to get into IITs. But thanks to all the coaching institutes, this is more easier for first timers - just don't go with the wave (most people look for GATE notes/materials and don't study the topics from authentic sources). Your aim should be to cover GATE syllabus and to cover it as much as to answer previous GATE questions. There is no one giving secret weapons to do this, and so you don't need anyone else' help in doing this, though after GATE these institutes run after toppers for their photos and names. So, in short if you can give the remaining time in solving previous GATE questions and understanding topics from GATE syllabus then GATE is possible- I assume you know programming and basics of topics though many CS engineers don't even know that.

PS: Some of the coaching institute profs are really good but the industry as a whole is sick and please don't take my comments personally. Giving GATE notes, making substandard questions for practice tests- these are what even the best of coaching institutes do when there are plenty of standard questions available for free- from both previous papers as well as books.
