Which layer protocol RIP and OSPF are ? And why ?

RIP is used by Distance Vector Routing which is based on Bellman-Ford algorithm and OSPF is used by Link State Routing which is based on Dijisktra's Algorithm.

Thank you sir but I have one more doubt that if in a particular question the model is not mentioned either OSI or TCP/IP used then we will consider as TCP/IP and then answer would be APPLICATION LAYER  ?

Because according to OSI both are network layer protocol .
