spooling is a temporary buffer area so non sharable device like printer ,os do use a spooling area to print data through printer instead of direct printing so by using spooling we removed mutual exclusion involving printer

But then again only one program(process) can print at a time. So mutual exclusion is still present??

Actually mutual exclusion is not a practical solution of deadlock prevention
There's only one practical solution to remove circular wait by arranging the request made by processes in increasing order

Mutual Exclusion vs. Hold and Wait
In the context of a Deadlock, what is the difference between Mutual Exclusion and Hold and Wait ? In case of Hold and Wait, a process holds atleast one resource. Doesn't this correspond to Mutual Exclusion, where atleast one resource is held in a non-shareable mode ??

Problem regarding mutual exclusion
Process P1 Process P2 P(S1) P(S1) P(S2) P(S2) Critical Section Critical Section V(S2) V(S1) V(S1) V(S2) In one of the Gateoverflow tests, this question was given and it was told that in the above case mutual exclusion is not ... section. As far as the order of unlocking, I dont see a problem there. Can someone please explain why mutual exclusion is not guaranteed?

mutual exclusion in operating system
Mutual exclusion is "not sharing a resource" but what if there are more than one instances of a resource and different processes using these instances concurrently, is it still holding mutual exclusion in reference to this resource ?
