what is the difference between the flow control mechanism provided by data link layer and transport layer ?

Flow control at transport layer applies to end to end transmission where the source shouldn't be pushing more data than the receiver can process.
Flow control at data link layer applies to hop to hop transmission .

Data layer : It solves flow problem which two nodes PHYSICALLY connected

Transport layer : It solves flow problem which two nodes LOGICALLY CONNECTED connected

Also,the algorthim used cannot be interchanged for flow process.
