Question

Ani is training for the olympics with Usain Bolt. After a few days of training Usain challenges Ani to catch him. Usain sets off running very slowly with a view to encourage Ani. He covers $\text{70m}$ the first minute, $\text{100m}$ the next minute, then $\text{130m}$ the minute afterwards and so on. Ani is told to start $3$ minutes later. Having trained hard he runs $\text{100m}$ the first minute, $\text{150m}$ the second Minute, then $\text{200m}$ and so on. Ani catches Usain at an integral multiple of a minute. How many minutes did Ani run before catching up with Usain. What were their respective speeds?

Can you please explain the answer? Where did that 140 on RHS come from? Why did we use n/2 on LHS.

Here we are using the concept of sum of finite AP and formula of finite AP is - Sn= n/2(2a+(n-1) d)

Where a is first team d is common difference in above formula me putting our value and getting our result
