[dry $\rightarrow$ arid $\rightarrow$ parched] is analogous to [diet $\rightarrow$ fast $\rightarrow$ ________ ].

Which one of the given options is appropriate to fill the blank?

 arid meaning - having little or no rain; too dry or barren to support vegetation.

parched meaning - dried out with heat

Thus the words has to be in increasing order of intensity. 

So for diet -> fast -> starve
