Piecewise linear interpolation is a simple way of connecting points through straight lines

So equation Of line joining first 2 points is 

Y-x=6

So at x=4 , y is 10

you means distance between 2 related points should be constant(here is 6)?
or any other reason
if constant distance then 28-16 != 6
please explain
