Percentage of students failed in subject I = 35%

Percentage of students failed in subject II = 42%

Percentage of students failed in both I & II subjects = 15%

Let’s calculate the percentage of students failed :

Percentage ( Fail in I or Fail in II ) = Percentage (Fail in I) + Percentage (Fail in II) – Percentage (Fail in both)

= (35 + 42 -15)% = 62%.

So, Percentage of student who failed= 62%

Percentage of student who passed = (100 – 62)% = 38%

It is given that total number of student appeared in examination = 2500 & we are asked how many students

passed in either of the subject. So,

100% → 2500

38% → (2500/100)*38 = 25 * 38 = 950.

Total number of students passed in either exam is 950.
