Its correct even I got the same, now at next stage you get again 000. so it's mod 5.

I have followed this approach, this is something similar to Jhonson counter.

0 0 0 -> Initial

1 0 0 -> 1st clock

0 1 0 -> 2nd clock

1 0 1 -> 3rd clock

0 1 1 -> 4th clock

0 0 0 -> on 5th clock it resets so mod 5.

See swapnil naik, u repated ur mistake,
When at 3rd clock we are getting 101 then how can it be a mod 5 counter.
It should be either mod 6 ctr or more than that.
Since mod 6 is not in options so I guess mod 7 can be answer.

@Gate fever

mod-6 Jhonson counter, here you get one stage with 1 1 1 output so does it become mod 7 counter?

By looking at unique stages and when it gets reset I can say it is mod-5 counter.

Yes 5 is the correct answer

Okay one minute

Pls clear my doubt

How do we tell that about mod _____ counter

Option a)by no. Of  distinct states it is giving

Or option b) by looking at states like if it is mod 5 counter then it can only have 0,1,2,3,4 states if it is having 5 in it then it is a mod 6 counter.

I always go with option b.

Am I wrong?

Do we tell the counter by no. Of distinct states it is giving.

The number of different output states a counter can produce is called the modulo or modulus of the counter. The Modulus (or MOD-number) of a counter is the total number of unique states it passes through in one complete counting cycle with a mod-n counter being described also as a divide-by-n counter.

with above links - I can say we just need to count no. of states after which it comes back to original state. so in this case

0 0 0
1 0 0
0 1 0
1 0 1
0 1 1
Hence here after execution of 5 states on the next clock it again come back to 0 hence mod-5 counter.

Let me know if I am wrong.

okay, i think u are correct,

i think no. of distinct states are counted!

if in future i get some counter eaxmple i'll post it.
