@Hemanth_13  brother what's wrong with my approach I also did the same only I assumed x to be number of states and later divided it by 2 :/

@Na462 On solving x = 8

And number of states = 2* number of flip flops 

you got 8--> here 8 means MOD 8 counter.

Now the question is for johnson counter how many flip flops are needed for a MOD 8 counter , we need 4 ( as it is 2n counter)
