GATE exam and after

Question

I am a B.E Mechanical Engineer but I want to pursue Computer Science MTech and PhD. I have 5+ years of experience in Software development. I wrote to GATE team this year asking them to allow me to attempt the CS paper and they seem to have allowed it since the application form allows it.

Now the question is that if I do score well in the CS paper, will any regular university or autonomous university or evening college allow me admission to their MTech course in Computer Science even though I am a Mechanical Engineer?
