@Swaraj Dasgupta as there are wrong questions ..it will be marks to all...and i think it will only increase the cut off!
@Shivateja MST I mean only the students who are in their final year are not eligible(not all Gate 2020 aspirants)
@ Punit Sharma wrong question will be ignored.. ISRO ignored the wrong questions
@Arjun

Answer for Q62 in SET D is clearly wrong!
Just checked here : https://ideone.com/mZ24zH
Guys someone respond as what they mean by excluded for evalution are they going to give marks for those question to everyone there were 5 such questions which account to 15 marks or they will exclude those question giving 0 marks to everyone for those question and guys how @avistein is saying cutoff will be 113
@piyush.... 113 marks is not the cut-off. I was just responding to someone's question about how much marks are you guys scoring. !!
Few others errors in answer key that I think could be challenged:
Q.) If every non-key attribute functionally dependent on the primary key, then the relation will be in...?
They have given 3NF as answer , but it should be 2 NF
https://gateoverflow.in/15778/every-attribute-functionally-dependent-primary-relation
Q). Avalanche effect in cryptography refers??
According to William stalling book on 'Network security and Cryptography" :
"A desirable property of any encryption algorithm is that a small change in either the plaintext or the key should produce a significant change in the ciphertext. In particular, a change in one bit of the plaintext or one bit of the key should produce a change in many bits of the ciphertext."
So both A and B should be answer. The most probable answer according to some research articles should be A however.
Answer for ques no 61. set D is 110 option D.... Given 'c' in isro answer key.
Here is the code linK:
https://ideone.com/qsa0f4
https://gateoverflow.in/331394/isro2020-50
what is the ans given to this question?
Question No. 42 (BIG ENDIAN QUESTION) in Set 'C' answer given as option C which is clearly wrong. Correct answer should be option 'B'.
@ Debapaul Correct answer should be 2NF
@ smsubham The SQL query question No option is matching according to the given query. This SQL query question should be drop.
@Swaraj Right.. In Little Endian - Big endian question, Ans has to be B.
Other than that,
1) The hardware implementation which provides mutual exclusion is
In above question answer has to be C. https://gateoverflow.in/331484/isro2020-57?show=331484#q331484 But According to ISRO key Answer is B. Will raise objection.
2) To send same bit sequence, NRZ encoding require
For this question, Answer has to be C, https://gateoverflow.in/331403/isro2020-52?show=331403#q331403 But But According to ISRO key Answer is B.
3) Remote Procedure calls are used for.. Option A can be correct.
In distributed computing, a remote procedure call (RPC) is when a computer program causes a procedure (subroutine) to execute in a different address space (commonly on another computer on a shared network), which is coded as if it were a normal (local) procedure call, without the programmer explicitly coding the details for the remote interaction. RPC can also be implemented on the same system.
4) Avalanche effect in cryptography refers
Option A is also correct.https://gateoverflow.in/331416/isro2020-45?show=331416#q331416. But According to ISRO key Answer is B.
@ smsubham can you check this:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/5300319/what-is-a-hardware-semaphore
@madhab
I have seen that earlier, but that's modified version, originally it was software solution which needs kernel support to make P and V atomic. Like Merge sort is by default is out of place and takes n log n, but we have inplace merge sort also which takes n^2 log n. So if they ask in exam which one will be correct (by default, nothing extra mentioned)?
https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/in-place-merge-sort/
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2571049/how-to-sort-in-place-using-the-merge-sort-algorithm
@Dumbest Kid This is so true. The questions were really good this time but however they were really careless when it came to implementation. I have wasted my time in wrong questions because I was surprised my answer was not there in any of the options. Now, after spending time on those questions, those questions are not considered for evaluation itself. This is really bad.
@Swaraj Dasgupta I think answer should be 1NF not even 2NF.
@commenter commenter
I also thought the same and then left the question. Paper setter was such a careless person that he was not even bothered to write options correctly. I guess he just wanted to play with us because no one can do anything to them as they are already on high post/organization.
After giving this exam i was thinking can't we do anything about this exam and ask them to conduct it again with proper way similar to GATE exam. Because this will happen every time and every time candidates will face such issue. This year even before challenging the key they have declared the question to be excluded for evaluation. I see we have a very good chance and catch them. Atleast once we can do it so that from the next time onwards these government people won't be doing such foolish thing. Just that I do not know whether the same thing is being felt by every candidate here or not as i think its an injustice to everyone but no one knows how to bring justice
@!KARAN agreed, but what we can do?
@smsubham
thats a big question to me as well. I have seen many times people file petition but does that work even?
@!KARAN One may, generally court hear such matter immediately. But outcome depends on judge. We may try to tweet this issue to MHRD, ICRB etc in large number so that it starts trending. Will it work? I don't know.
If every non-key attribute functionally dependent on the primary key, then the relation will be in
Answer - C Third Normal Form.
Why it is not in 2NF:
Let's take simple example:
R: {X→Y, Y→Z, X→Z}
In above relation, in FD Y→Z, Z is clearly Non key attribute and It is NOT dependant on Primary key Because Primary key is X.
Y→Z is not valid functional dependency for the given statment "If every non-key attribute functionally dependent on the primary key".
We can't take wrong example and prove our answer.
3NF Wikipedia definition : "no non-prime attribute depends on other non-prime attributes. All the non-prime attributes must depend only on the candidate keys." This definition is same as "If every non-key attribute (All the non prime attributes) functionally dependent on the primary key(candidate keys)"
Non prime attribute and Non key attributes are same : http://www.exploredatabase.com/2017/07/define-non-prime-attribute-non-key-attribute-in-dbms.html
Adding to the comment of @Vivek07 even the answer to the question related to the RIGHT OUTER JOIN was not in the options. I have posted the answer. One can check the below link for justification.
https://gateoverflow.in/331400/isro2020-51
@ALL, PLEASE RAISE OBJECTION TO WRONG ANSWERS.
@nkg_master9 I completely agree. In question related to the RIGHT OUTER JOIN, Not any option is correct.
@dr_Jackal yes exactly in question no where mentioned it is a BST.. question only says it is Binary Tree. And for a binary tree from only post order traversal we can't create unique binary tree. This question must be drop. I will raise objection to this question.
What about this question?
https://gateoverflow.in/331324/isro2020-20
I think the answer should be A but they have given C as the answer.
I guess the answer to this will be software pipelining and not loop unrolling. ( source: wikipedia).
Answer related to tree edge after BFS traversal will have multiple options as its answers. Please refer the below link for justification.
https://gateoverflow.in/331350/isro2020-32
For the postorder to preorder conversion, please refer to the link for justification.
https://gateoverflow.in/331270/isro2020-23
https://gateoverflow.in/331364/isro2020-36 , should be c (O(n)) , but they make it not evaluated.
@Dumbest Kid --> Jocko Podcast
I am getting 151 marks excluding question not considering for evaluation. what are my chances for the selection for interview.
U will be getting salary from next month
@Abhisheksawarn608 what makes you think that cut off is atleast 130?
25 posts in 2018 and cut off was 121/234.
This year
a)number of posts 53. Usually the ratio for interview is 1:10 so top 500 in the exam will be called.
b)number of applicants are less compared to 2018 as final year students weren't allowed to write.(unless non student exam applicants in 2020- non student applicants in 2018>(number of student applicants in 2018)) which I think is highly unlikely to happen.
c)paper was medium to tough and max marks is 225 already.
d)there is no rule for cut off (i.e) 50 percent of max marks and all, because in a previous year the cut off was 101.
So, this year a person with 100 marks has more chance to fall in top 500.
So, obvi the cut off should be decreased unless they decide to call less people for the interview.
So Abhisheksawarn608 what made you think that cut off is 130 or near that?
either you are a fool or I am.
@Dumbest Kid how much did you score this year with the current key?
I scored 112 and I am pretty sure that SET E question 26(pointer question 50 60 answer one) will be changed to d and ill get 116.
and minimum height of avl tree question, sql query question could also be changed.
@ pranay562 Its like it depends on what you treat root node height as, if you treat it as zero youll get floor if you treat it as 1 youll get ceil.
check this out
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/30769383/finding-the-minimum-and-maximum-height-in-a-avl-tree-given-a-number-of-nodes
cidacoder
Because there are two questions in that question
1)what is the complexity?
2)which of the following is invalid string?
I literally saw that and thought to myself that ok first question of the 2 questions given should be answered as it was asked first and answered it as nlogn.
Everyone in their key answered it as logn by answering it to the second one.
So it has to be removed since 2 questions and it depends on which one you answered.
https://www.isro.gov.in/sites/default/files/computer_science_1.pdf
@Dumbest Kid
They call in 1:8 ratio, in 2018 212 (general) were called, 12-13 maybe having same marks.
In Dec 2017, 86 were called (don't know if it includes other category) for 9 vacancies.
cutoff was 122 for 25 vacancy, 2 questions excluded in 2018.
This time extra 5 (total 7, assuming sql and case 1,2 move question is excluded). by this itself cutoff is expected to drop to 107 (122 -15). Then there are extra 19 (44 for general) vacancies.
One more important thing is when range of marks (marking from 219 compared to 234 in 2018) is decreasing, number of people per marks will increase a lot as marks decreases.
No one can predict cutoff exactly but with all this i guess it will be somewhere in between 95-103.
But one thing is ISRO should set proper question paper, there is so much competition that even 1 marks, 1 min in exam matters, so many wrong, multiple correct question, ambiguous question isn't expected from such a reputed organization which waste aspirants time which could be used for solving other questions.
@smsubham. Are bhai bhai bhai !!! pura paper cancel karwadhoge kya bhai
Click on the computer science link .In the opened page u will find the link to raise objection
https://apps.isac.gov.in/CentralBE-2018/challengeinput.jsp?advtno=03/2019
@nsaisirisha Yes they will give marks only to those who have marked any one of the correct options.
@aa2201 For Dec 2017 recruitment it was published after 1 month 10 days. So expect withing somewhere around Feb end.
nkg_master9
you challenged that dbms query question right?
In 2-3 days they should update. @Abhisheksawarn608 (same gap was there during publishing initial keys)
@gauravsachan9188 on top of that they also expect us to find wrong questions in exam and skip them. (7 questions wrong, 3+ multiple correct)
@aa2201 lol true.
Revised keys https://www.isro.gov.in/sites/default/files/computer_science_2.pdf
Hi Everyone,
As anyone who has appeared for ISRO exam would know that this year there were 8 questions with none of the options correct and 4 with multiple correct. Due to ICRB team fault in setting questions many of the students ended up wasting time 10-15 min in those question question which is huge considering that there was only 90 min for solving 80 question. As these questions were cancelled students who didn't attend them would have got an edge over others. So i request all applicant to mail ISRO regarding this issue and ask them to call people in higher ratio for interview. Many have already mailed, please do the same. Send mail from your id registered with ISRO during exam, other id mail they aren't opening..
Mail id:
[email protected] (mail id of ICRB)
[email protected] (Mail id of Nodal Public Grievance Officer, Department of Space, ISRO)
Send two mails Keep Subject as
1. "grievance about Advertisement Number ISRO:ICRB:03:2019"
2. "Query- Scientist/Engineer-SC Recruitment –ICRB"
What to write?
@commentator It's 44*4=352, rest 14 are for PWD where they call in 1:2 or less ratio I think. And for your information they call sometimes 1000+ people in electronics and mechanical but still would be completeing interview as required. (Of course then their vacancies are much higher than 44).
@parwateeswar i don't know if they will consider it. We van try atleast asking for it as many questions were wrong.
From where is the revised answer key obtained? https://www.isro.gov.in/careers does not have the revised answer key from Computer Science.
Revised ans key
https://www.isro.gov.in/sites/default/files/computer_science_2.pdf
CIL question is far better. (ambiguity wise) No wrong question i guess.
ISRO results for some of the branches are out.
I guess they have called in higher ratio. or maybe due to category wise split ratio appears to be higher.
Like RAC, 2 vacancies in 2019, 16 people called. This time 4 vacancies and 59 people called.
2019: https://www.isro.gov.in/sites/default/files/rac-2019.pdf
2020: https://www.isro.gov.in/sites/default/files/rac.pdf
CIvil 2019: 72 (9*8) https://www.isro.gov.in/sites/default/files/civil-2019.pdf, 2020: 11 vacancies , 124 people called. https://www.isro.gov.in/sites/default/files/civil_0.pdf
Electrical 2019: 43, 2020: 77 (5 vacancies each time)
Here is a poll on ISRO marks, you can say your marks if you want.

Hey Everyone ! Most of the activities in ISRO are on-hold since we are also working with minimal staff only.
So my suggestion would be to those who are expecting more than 50% marks according to the final answer key is to prepare and rock solid the basic concepts of gate subjects.
The panel may not ask you the entire syllabus but with a concept they will test your deeper understanding about it.
For example : With heap as a topic they tested my data structures knowledge similarly memory management in OS and also they asked me to solve one probability question on board.
Good Luck,
Akshay

It would be useful if you could provide the link.
how many peoples disagree with result? they should call in the ratio of 1:11, as we requested.
Plz go through this link https://www.pmindia.gov.in/en/interact-with-honble-pm/
And enter the complaint against ISRO , they had done lot of mistakes in paper. But expect perfect candidate in interview, atleast they should call candidates in the ratio of 1:11. I lodged the complaint.
i typed this message with some data copy pasted from smssubham, plz everybody send this to below link
https://www.pmindia.gov.in/en/interact-with-honble-pm/ . more message than quick action.
this year ISRO scientist/Engineer recruitment 2020 written test (OMR based)was conducted for computer science branch with 58 posts on 12/01/2020.
this year there were 8 questions with none of the options correct and 4 with multiple correct. in question paper clearly given that" multiple answers will be assumed as wrong."Due to ICRB team fault in setting questions many of the students ended up wasting time 10-15 min in those question which is huge considering that there was only 90 min for solving 80 question. As these questions were cancelled students who didn't attend them would have got an edge over others.they given in advertisement anskey will be declared in website within 3 days . but they taken 2 weeks means that they was not able to solve that questions within 3 days, then how they can expect form us to solve that paper within 90 minutes with minus marking(1/3).and they taken also more than 1 month to declare revised anskey,with again mistakes.
we requested to them please call in the ratio of 1:11 for interview.Final selection depends on our hard work only as we know the level of interview for ISRO,but atleast they should give us a chance to show it ,because writen phase is only qualifying in nature as per ISRO.
BARC had also call in 1:20. but they didn't accept our request they called only 394(1:7) candidates which is totally unfair with us, many students are preparing dedicately for ISRO, but after ISRO's this step we are demotivating. please help us , and call candidates for interview 1:11 or higher in ratio with revised writen result list .
@sags.sharma Thanks man i appreciate.
Anyone else getting this error while trying to see ISRO marks
"Error (E-31): Incorrect Roll No / Date of Birth / Post No !"
CATEGORY-WISE CUT-OFF MARKS OF CANDIDATES SHORTLISTED FOR INTERVIEW
https://www.isro.gov.in/sites/default/files/cut-off_details_0.pdf
Unfortunately No to apply for BE003 Scientist SC post you need a degree in CSE to apply for CSE.
They have updated The results sheet, earlier they called 394 members for interview, now it is 418
The Schedule for Interviews will be notified in the website and by e-mail to short-listed candidates
they have mentioned this point recently in isro web site
Something is better than nothing.kuch log ka toh fayda hua, bhale mera nahi.
the cutoff remains 97. I got 96 marks so I mailed them regarding updated cutoff and they replied that list has been extended for PWBD candidates
@Dumbest Kid What are you complaining about government services? Send an email to Airtel customer care ([email protected]) and you'll get reply from "bots". Government services are better :)
